Summer Studio

Applications for Summer Studio 2019 are now open.

Summer Studio is part of Sage Gateshead’s Talent Development programme for music creators from all genres and backgrounds.

From 5 August – 18 August Sage Gateshead are opening the doors to their rehearsal studios and facilities and offering FREE short residencies (up to one week) for musicians, singers or artists of all genres to create new work, develop their practice or prepare for a performance.

Not only will you feel part of a thriving and exciting musical community here at Sage Gateshead but you will have the opportunity to network with and learn from industry experts and build relationships with like-minded artists. Your experience will be tailored by you, with support from Sage Gateshead to make sure that you gain what you need out of it.

During the week you will have the chance to:

  • Rehearse, create and collaborate for one week in a dedicated space at Sage Gateshead
  • Attend one-to-one sessions and clinics with an industry professionals for example, planning out your year, working on stage presence, concert programming, how to write successful funding bids, song-writing, PR, management, resilience in the music industry and production (2017’s clinics featured professionals from Sony Music, NARC Magazine, i-D Magazine and Funky Fly Music amongst others)
  • Attend a professional portrait photoshoot
  • Film a live session of one of your songs with Northern Stars Production

After Summer Studio your relationship with Sage Gateshead continues throughout the year as we aim to find you support slots, showcase moments, and offer guidance where appropriate.

Previous artists in residence have included Grace Smith & Sam Partridge, Ruth Patterson (front-person of Holy Moly & the Crackers), Blanket, Katie Doherty and J Frisco.

Please note that Summer Studio is only able to accept applications from those who will be aged 18 and over from August 2019.
